A homeowner hired a contractor to renovate their entire home. When leaving one day, the contractor forgot to cap an open shower valve, resulting in thousands of litres of water spraying onto unfinished drywall.

Twelve hours later, the homeowner received a notification that their Nest thermostat had gone offline. When they checked the home, they found all three floors completely flooded.
